Exploring Through My Lens
I spent a good deal of my childhood dressing my oh-so-patient dog up in ridiculous outfits and then taking photos of her. And while I toted around a camera everywhere I went after that, things changed when I bought my first DSLR in 2008. I was drawn to documenting details I observed around me, the things other people walked by, the beauty in the everyday.
As I shared my photography, what started as favors and gifts, turned into paying clients and prints for sale, online and in stores. I explored a wide range of photography (newborns, families, engagements, weddings, elopements, products, food, travel, influencer, brand, lifestyle, cannabis, headshots, documentary, editorial, events, fitness, interiors, and more).
I observed the ever changing light, chased moments of emotion, and documented little details.
I was ultimately captivated by the times I could use my presence and my camera to draw out another’s confidence, allowing them to stand in their power, to unapologetically be their truest self.
All the while, I put pressure on myself for not committing and mastering one niche, constantly comparing myself to others and what I thought I should be doing. I can now see that each of these steps was important in my growth as a photographer.
At this moment, I have paused my photography services and am reclaiming this artistic outlet for myself. I am not taking on any photography jobs, but a time may come in the future when I’ll offer it again. Stay tuned.
