The Startup World of Food Delivery
When the time came for a new adventure, I stumbled upon a job opening at OrderUp, a Baltimore-based food delivery startup. In a world where GrubHub and Postmates were only in cities like NYC and SF, it sounded intriguing.
I had the opportunity to manage a creative team, multi-market social media strategy, and national marketing campaigns for OrderUp. I oversaw our digital content creation to drive brand awareness and conversion, including the creation of copy, photography, design, e-mail marketing, and social media posts. I utilized my organizational brain to define a process around prioritizing creative needs and organizing marketing resources.I collaborated with and advised the local marketing teams to achieve brand consistency nationally while demonstrating our local reach.I worked closely with iOS and Android app developers to create a cohesive app marketing strategy and help people see why they want this app. Towards the end of my time there, I helped our creative marketing team navigate through an acquisition with Groupon.
The most important part was I had the opportunity to break out of the box I created for myself at McCormick. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone almost daily and tried new things, but not all of them I liked. In the process, I learned a lot about myself and created friendships that are still an important part of my life now. It was an incredibly important stepping stone in my life.
